Biting Beaver...

...over at the Den is writing a week long series about the tiers of pornography and the harm it causes.

Please read this series.

Even if you already know about the harms of pornography.

Even if you've already read these words.

Please read this. And do something about it.

There is a very disturbing topic on Netscape The Woman's Forum, called Is Pornography Bad? As if they even have to ask. Nobody even brought up the feminist perspective of the sexism, and harms to women and children. A few women said their husbands are addicted to it and it caused problems in their marriages, and a few said they feel it demeans women. But several said that if a person or couples want to watch pornography together in their own bedroom to get aroused,it's OK and it's their private business.

I posted a long informative post about the harms, but sadly I'm sure many of them *still* won't get it because of acceptable and mainstreamed pornography has become in a very sexist male dominated society that most women are very conditioned by!

As long as it doesn't involve kids and all 'performers' are willing then pornography isn't harmful at all.

In fact quite the contrary it can positively enhance one's sex life.

The sad part is that most women ( and men ) are conditioned not by the opposite sex, but by the result of thousands of years of sexually repressive rule by organised religion. That's why we still have stupid laws censoring nudity and sex, and why a lot of people grow up with sexual hangups.

If people don't like pornaography then that's their choice, but they cross the line when they try and stop others from enjoying it.

Interesting and profoundly unconventional point of view there, anonymous. You've obviously done masses of research into the real harms of pornography and so know exactly what you're talking about. :)

First let me say porn. ruins marriages, family life, relationships and a since of dignity. Why do I say this? Because of 2 years of first hand experience. Literally trying to help addicts over and over again fix their lives. Most families end up in ruin. Here is an example of someone deeply effected by an addiction to pornography.

Please take into consideration sex is a very personal thing, when it is publicized its special purpose gets taken away.

    Signed me.
